Last March 22 to 23, representatives from the government, civil society, academe, and the private sector participated in the Philippine Open Government Dialogues kick-off in Davao City, organized by DBM and INCITEGov, with the support of USAID-Facilitating Public Investment and Making All Voices Count. Present in the activity were Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno, NEDA Assistant Secretary Carlos Abad-Santos, and Ms. Shreya Basu and Mr. Jack Mahoney of Open Government Partnership (OGP) International Support Unit.
The activity is the first among the series of national consultations entitled “Co-Creating the 4th Philippine Open Government Partnership National Action Plan”. INCITEGov, as the PH-OGP CSO Secretariat and Budget Advocacy Group convenor, together with the Office of the Cabinet Secretary and DBM OGP Secretariat, facilitated the discussions, which revolved around the Philippine Development Plan, the 2017 national budget, and the proposed participatory governance initiatives of government.
Speaking in behalf of the PH-OGP non-government Steering Committee, Ching Jorge, Co-Chair and INCITEGov Director, acknowledged the government, through it's OGP chair Sec. Diokno of DBM, for its sustained participation in the OGP and its commitment to transparency, participation, and governance.
Through the activity, PH-OGP was able to gather inputs on the draft National Action Plan which will be implemented July of this year to 2019. Three more consultations will be gathered in Cebu City (April 25), Baguio City (May 5), and in Manila (May 19). The final approved initiatives co-created by CSOs and Government will be committed to the international OGP.
